Vishnu is the preserver within the Hindu Trimurti, worshipped as the sustainer of the universe who incarnates — as Rama, Krishna and others — whenever dharma declines. "Om Jai Jagdish Hare," addressed to him as Jagdish, lord of the universe, is among the most widely sung aartis in Hindu households, closing almost any puja regardless of the deity worshipped.
