Makar Sankranti

Makar Sankranti marks the sun's transition into Capricorn (Makar) and the start of its northward journey (Uttarayan). Celebrated with kite-flying, til-gud sweets, and holy dips in rivers, it is one of the few Hindu festivals fixed to the solar calendar rather than the lunar one.
